Shemflections: what is (still) missing in Ruby today

Stealing the Hebrew word for reflections from Tsuguya Sasaki... I was wondering what's missing in Ruby now. Froma practical point of view, absolutely not technical. Ok, a LaTeX generator, but this is not uneasy. A way to draw directly on screen without the nightmare of SVG... this is less uneasy.

A manner to simplify web UI design in Rails, this is a key point. Addressed by Paolo Donà, who explained the Rails Widget. This is something I consider a good approximation of what I think of a solution of this problem.

A manner to write web/desktop apps, where content is syncronized and the desktop GUI is web-stilish, this is something really missing. I refer for example to Blurb for books, or look for example at the new MindMeister Offline. Yes, there is Joyent, but it is not open sourced: will be satisfying for the community?

And finally: internationalization. How many languages does Globalize support? My delighted Esperanto, for example? Where the hell is the currently supported localizations in that web site?!?
